Ishan Kawinda — a builder who never really stayed inside one box.

Developer, designer, digital problem-solver and long-time freelancer. Ishan's work sits at the intersection of software, creative work and the practical needs of small businesses.

The person behind Codepanda

Curiosity became a career. The career became a way to give back.

Ishan Kawinda founded Codepanda in 2018 and has spent years working across web development, design, freelancing and digital business. His approach is deliberately broad: understand the business, learn the technology required, and build something that genuinely helps.

His public footprint includes early technical writing about cross-platform file sharing and a portfolio that spans websites, business software and creative brands. That range is not accidental — it comes from a habit of learning by building.

For Ishan, freelancing was never only about getting the next client. It became a way to meet different industries, understand different problems and bring that experience back to local businesses and community-minded projects in Sri Lanka.

A builder's rule
“If you can learn it, build it. If you can build it, make it useful. If it can help someone else, share it.”

That mindset is part of why Codepanda keeps experimenting with open-source ideas and practical tools beyond client work.

Community-first digital ideas

Ideas such as local discovery, tourism information and public-interest tools reflect a belief that software can solve small community problems, not just corporate ones.

02

Sharing knowledge

From early technical writing to mentoring and hands-on development, the goal is to make practical technology easier for the next person to understand and use.

Giving back through building

Client work pays the bills. Useful ideas build the legacy.

That is the spirit behind open-source experiments, community-focused concepts and practical tools that can be shared rather than locked away.

Ishan's path through freelancing exposed him to different businesses, cultures and technical problems. The long-term goal is to turn that experience into opportunities for other people to learn, build and participate.

A multi-disciplinary path

More than a job title.

Developer

Web applications, PHP/MySQL systems, WordPress, e-commerce, integrations and business software.

Designer

Branding, UI/UX, graphics and digital interfaces where visual clarity matters as much as functionality.

Freelancer

Years of client work across borders taught the most valuable skill of all: listen carefully before building.
